When it comes to online advertising you’re spoilt for choice with the variety of positions and types of ads available, the only hard part is picking one. In order to choose you need to be aware of which types of ad are out there, then you’ll be able to weigh up which ones can help you with a successful advertising campaign.
Text Ads/PPC:
Text ads are the oldest and most basic form of online advertising as they’re literally just text hyperlinks. Text ads can be placed anywhere on sites and are usually only a couple of sentence long, though the maximum limit is around 5 sentences. Text ads rely on their wording to attract clicks and still have a respectable click through rate (CTR) when compared to banner ads or skyscrapers. They’ll usually be sold on a PPC (pay per click) basis, meaning advertisers are charged an agreed rate every time the link is clicked.
Banner Ads:
Banner ads are probably the most popular online advertising option as the majority of sites will have banner advertising of some sort due to their size. Banners are typically 468×60 pixels so they nicely fit into most horizontal gaps and are often placed at the top of pages for maximum exposure. They can be a still ad or an animated image and they’ll click through to the site of the company advertising. Banners are sold in pretty much every way going, including CPM (cost per 1,000 views), PPC (pay per click) or weekly/monthly/yearly charges.
Pop-Up Ads:
Undoubtedly the most annoying type of online advertising is the pop-up ad. Pop-up’s happen when you open a certain web pages and your browser automatically opens up another page with the ad on. They’re not always full pages through they always fill up a larger chunk of your screen with an ad that is more often than not, completely unrelated to your interests or the website you’re on. Pop-up’s are mainly just seen as spam now and are avoided by most marketers and advertising specialists.
Unicast Ads:
Similar to pop-ups are unicast ads, though they’re seen as less annoying. Unicast ads are pop-ups that run TV commercials with full audio and video content. They have a much higher CTR than generic pop-ups as they require a click through to access the actual website.
Skyscraper/Sidebar Ads:
Skyscraper ads, also called sidebar ads, are the vertical images or creatives that are usually found running along the right hand side of a web page. They work in the same way banner ads do, except they’re often visible for longer period of time af the length of them means you cant scroll past them as easily. Because of this they tend to have a higher CTR, usually 2 or 3 times higher than banners.
Floating Ads:
Floating ads are another one that does what it says on the tin. Floating ads hover, usually in the middle of your screen, when you access certain web pages. They can last anything up to 30 seconds and are often big enough so that you can’t see much else unless you click off or it times out. They’re usually quite targeted and have a good CTR although they’re often banded in the same class as pop-ups for their annoyingness.
Peel Back Ads:
Peel back pretty do what it says on the tin. A peel back ad will usually appear in the top right hand corner of a webpage and will look like the corner of a page being peeled down. Once you click on it, it will completely peel back to reveal a full ad, obscuring a significant chunk of the page. Most of the time they’ll only feature on homepages, though they can be found throughout sites.
Expanding Ads:
Expanding ads are similar to peel back ads and are often designed as banner ads that sit the top of a webpage. Once you roll over the ad with your curser (you don’t need to click) it will then expand to a larger ad or sometimes a video, again, obscuring a lot of the page and drawing your attention to it.
Interstitial Ads:
Interstitial ads are full pages that can be inserted in between the current page you’re on, and the destination page you’ve just clicked through too. They’ll nearly always be relevant to the pages you’re on and can either be on a timer, giving views enough time to read them, or you’ll find a ‘Skip this ad’ button somewhere on the page (or often both).
Safelist Ads:
Safelist Ads are email ads submitted to safelists. Safelist users can send ads manually or by submitters. Click here to download the SMASS Auto-Safelist Submitter and start sending ads to hundreds of safelists right now!

Safelist marketers’ for some reason do not sell Private Label
Rights (PLR) products.
Imagine this…
You just finished writing your ad for your Private Label Rights
or Resell Rights product(s) you just put together.
You send your ad out to your safelists.
At the end of the day you have 5 sales for a product that cost
$27.
Not bad since you did not have to create the product or write
the sales letter.
Your effort only took about an hour.
Well… that’s exactly what happened to me when I advertised my
first Resell Right product.
My next Resell Rights campaign for a product that I sold for $37
brought in 11 sales within a few days.
Next, my “Adsense Marketers’ Toolkit”, which include Private
Label Rights as well as Resell Rights products brought in 15
sales in one week. And this was for a product that sold for $47.
I am still making sales from these products.
Now, I am mainly a Safelist “geek”. But once I discovered that I
could use safelists to sell Resell Rights products, I was off
and running.
Thats why it surprises me that more Safelist marketers’ do not
take advantage of PLR or resell right products.
Not sure why but if you go and look through your safelist ads
everything else is being sold but hardly no resell rights or
private label products.
I don’t understand especially when:
* Put your name as the author,
* Edit the contents and change the titles,
* Break the contents into articles,
* Offer the Basic/Master Resell Rights,
* Resell their Private Label Rights,
* Sell them on auction sites,
* Use them as bonuses,
* Add into your membership site,
* And much more! You can do ANYTHING you want with them.
On top of that these products are “dirt cheap” to buy.
Part of the reason may be that a lot of safelist users are
newbies and simply do not understand the value and benefits of
PLR products.
Further, setting up webs sites for PLR products may be a problem
for some.
Even if setting up web sites are a problem there are PLR and
resell right affiliate programs that safelist marketers can
join where all you have to do is send out your ad and receive
100% commission.
The bottom line for marketers who use safelists as an
advertising medium is to start promoting Private Label Rights
and resell rights products.
For safelist users, Unless you have your own product… Private
Label Rights and Resale Rights products are the next best thing.

If you are interested in affiliate marketing, you are likely interested in the different ways to promote the products that you have chosen. There are several popular ways. They can all generate commissions for you, in other words, make money for you.
The most popular is probably pay per click marketing. Pay per click is when you place an ad on one of the major search engines. Every time someone clicks on the ad, you pay a predetermined price. If that person then purchases the advertised product, you earn a commission. It’s a great way to advertise, as long as you keep a close eye on your budget and don’t spend more then you earn. You can certainly make money with pay per click advertising.
Another popular way to affiliate market is by writing articles. You can write an article with information relating to the product you are marketing. There has to be good information contained in the article and the article cannot be simply a sales page for the product. Then you submit the article to one of the many article submission sites. At the bottom of each article, you are allowed to put a link to your website. This cannot be an affiliate link. This is a great way to get advertising for your website because your article can wind up all over the internet. People can copy your article for their ezines as long as they leave the author resource box intact. You will make money with article marketing, but it may take you longer.
Safelist advertising is basically email advertising, but you are assured of being spam free. To send email to a safelist, you need to join and agree to receive other peoples advertisement. You are then allowed to send them ads. Its an okay way to advertise, although I’m not sure how effective. People can get so many emails, they may just delete them automatically. I’m not sure if you will make money with this type of advertising. Some people swear by it, but it doesn’t seem like it works for me.
Placing classified ads is another way to advertise. This is low cost to no cost and can get you some great exposure.
There are many different ways to market products as an affiliate. The above are just a couple. If you are looking to start affiliate marketing, it’s a good idea to become familiar with all of the marketing methods. Its also a good idea to use more then just one method to get the best results form your affiliate marketing efforts. This is how you will make money.
Affiliate marketing is a great way to make money on the internet.
